66 islands ready for tourism investment | Arab News



The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) has announced that 66 islands are now ready for investment. Rustom Al-Kubaisi, head of the SCTNH’s branch in Jazan, said these islands are not inhabited but services such as piers, restrooms and umbrella have now been set up on the three major islands — Farasan, Sajid and Muharraq.

 The official said that the tourism income from Farasan Island alone during the Hareed fishing festival and winter season is estimated at more than SR2 million, with thousands of people arriving from different parts of the world.

81.9m travel through Saudi airports in 2015 - Saudi Gazette



The number of travelers through Saudi Arabia’s airports grew 9.5 percent to 81.9 million in 2015 compared to the previous year, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), the Kingdom’s air transport regulator, announced recently.

Those travelers boarded 646,693 flights in 2015, an increase of 9.8 percent over 2014 (74.8 million travelers on 589,216 flights,) GACA added.

In its statistics report, the agency said that 30.1 million travelers went through Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport throughout last year, boarding and disembarking from 212,799 flights, an increase of 7.3 percent for travelers and 16.6 percent for flights from 2014.

How to take notes in class? using Cornel notes



Dear students,

Learning how to learn is the most important skill of all skills.


This video will help you make good notes in class. This is a good study skill that will help you organize your learning of the language in college . Learn to use this system in every class. You also need to also to use a simple abbreviations  and symbols while making notes.

 abbreviation system- نظام للاختصارات

The words that you always use while making notes can be abbreviated:

Home work: H.M
Class work : C.W
grammar :   Gram.
communication: comm.
Reading and writing: W/R
Noun:     N. اسم
Verb:       V. فعل
adjectives: adj. صفة
pronouns: pron. ضمير
punctuation: Punct. علامات  الترقيم 
prepositions: prep. اداة جر
Amr: American English
Brit: British English
etc. and so on الي اخره
VS:  against  مقابل للمقارنة
imp: important  مهم
info: information معلومات
W/ : with مع
W/o : without بدون
abbr: abbreviation اختصار
sb: somebody شخص ما

Use symbols:استخدم الرموز 

You can also use symbols for words you always use while making notes:

  • Make a list of the symbols and abbreviation you are using in your notebook. These are only some examples. Use what you need.

Saudi tourism market valued at $45.3b banking on GCC visitors - Saudi Gazette


 Saudi Arabia remains a popular destination for GCC tourists, with around 7.4 million visitors entering the Kingdom in the first six months of 2015, which represented an increase of 25% against the same period in 2014, according to official data from the Saudi Commission for
Tourism & National Heritage (SCTNH) —  a fact that will underpin the Kingdom’s presence at this year’s Arabian Travel Market (ATM).

 A total of 2.1 million visitors were ‘day visitors’ with the remaining 5.2 million spending nearly SR11.8 billion and accounting for 30.5 million room nights. In 2014, 6.6 million Gulf tourists visited Saudi Arabia, spending SR22 billion........

Hospitality market: Jeddah ‘boasts strong resilience’ | Arab News






Jeddah’s hospitality market is expected to witness the entry of more than 5,333 hotel keys between 2016 and 2018, primarily represented by 5- and 4-star properties, each accounting for 51 percent and 31 percent of total forthcoming supply, respectively.

 It said that the fourth quarter of 2015 witnessed the opening of three internationally branded serviced apartments, all of which are operated by The Ascott Ltd., namely the Ascott Tahlia (125 keys), the Ascott Sari (52 keys), and the Citadines Al-Salamah (136 keys)....

SCTNH deposits SR600m for Al-Ahsa development - Arab News



The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) has deposited SR600 million with local banks for the Al-Uqair Development Company in Al-Ahsa, SCTNH President Prince Sultan bin Salman has said.
“Saudi citizens have some equities in most investing companies contributing to the project, which is currently under study in the Economy Council and under constant follow-up from the SCTNH’s competent authorities,” he said, confirming that the launch of the national tourism will coincide with the new tourist destinations in the Kingdom....

Al-Ahsa to tap international market through dates festival - Arab News


Plans are afoot to turn the Al-Ahsa dates festival into an international event by adopting top standards in the manufacture, packaging and marketing of the product, Adel Al-Mulhim, the general supervisor of the festival, has said.
Speaking during a press conference here on Saturday, Al-Mulhim pointed to the near completion of an advanced laboratory as part of the Al-Ahsa Secretariat’s bid to adopt international standards to export the dates to international markets.....

King Salman inaugurates Janadriyah Festival - Saudi Gazette




 Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman patronized on Wednesday the opening of the 30th National Festival for Heritage and Culture, organized by the Ministry of National Guard, in a village on the outskirts of Riyadh.

Guests who attended the inauguration ceremony included King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain; Sheikh Jassem bin Hamad Al Thani, personal representative of the Emir of Qatar; Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates; Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Minister of Information and
Minister of State for Youths Affairs of the State of Kuwait; and Saad bin Mohammed Al-Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman.

104 antiques from Berlin go on display at Riyadh exhibition | Arab News



 As many as 104 antique items that have come from the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, Germany, have gone on display at the National Museum here. The exhibition coincides the Janadriyah festival for heritage and culture. According to local media, the Pergamon Museum contains many of famous historical artifacts, particularly Islamic, mostly from the Umayyad and Ottoman periods under the name, “The first Islamic cultural capitals.”

Indian food festival tickles Saudi palate | Arab News




 Existing warm Saudi-Indian ties were spiced up on Wednesday with the launch of the three-day Indian Food Festival in Jeddah.
 Organized by the Indian Consulate and the Ministry of Tourism, in association with Elaf Hotel (Red Sea Mall) in Jeddah, the event has seen a number of Saudis and Indians sampling and savouring the mouth-watering dishes beside the hotel pool. Three celebrated chefs have been specially flown in from India to prepare well-known Indian delicacies to delight the palates and tastes of food connoisseurs in Jeddah.

Hotels to highlight local food, culture | Arab News


  Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism
and National Heritage (SCTNH), has announced plans to develop the
Kingdom’s islands in the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf into tourist destinations.

This would be done after the establishment of the Investment and Development Tourist Company, which is owned by the state, he said during a recent press conference at the SCTNH’s headquarters in Riyadh, a local publication reported.

Prince Sultan said that SCTNH was on the verge of developing a new product focused on Saudi food. “When we go into hotels we see European and Asian restaurants, but we hardly see a Saudi restaurant, so we aim to set up professional restaurants with professional Saudi chefs who offer an experience that reflects the Kingdom’s heritage and identity,” he said.

Dubai stays busiest airport for international travel | Arab News



Dubai International remained the world’s busiest airport for international travel last year with a 10.7 percent rise in passenger numbers, its operator said on Monday.

 More than 78 million passengers passed through Dubai in 2015, led by an increase in travelers from India, Britain and Saudi Arabia, the state-owned airport said in a statement.
